Celebrating The Earth Day, Bali Safari Give Children Natural Environment Education

Beritabali.com, Gianyar. Bali Sadari & Marine Park celebrated the dedicated day of protecting and preserving planet earth or called, Earth Day. As in years past, by inviting children from orphanages across the Island to participate in a range of activities led by members of the Park’s Education Team intended to instill a sense of care and concern for the natural environment.

The children, spending a fun-filled day at the 40-hectare park that is home to more than 60 species, were challenged during their visit to create attractive handicrafts made from recycled materials and invited to watch a demonstration by the Safari Ranger Team creating paper made from “recycled” elephant dung. During the tour, the children learned of the many “green initiatives” underway at the Bali Safari & Marine Park obtaining, along the way, a greater appreciaition for Mother Earth and the delicate eco-system in which we all live.
The “Green Safari” undertaken by the large group of young guests represents just one of many commitments by the Bali Safari & Marine Park that helps to educated the public on what can be done to support and popularize campaigns for environmental sustainability. Committed to serving both the local and world community, the Park seeks to promote the mantra of “reducing, recycling and reusing” in order to limit the volume of trash despoiling the environment.
Before leaving the Park, the children made a stop at the “pledge tree” to write down and hang on its branches a personal promise to the planet for a greener tomorrow.
The Operational Manager of the Bali Safari & Marine Park, Ketut Suardana, commented that the activities hosted by the Educational Team for the visiting children increases environmental awareness in keeping with the Park’s mission statement of “A Green Safari is a Cleaner Bali.”
“The celebration of Earth Day is important and deserves everyone’s support. We all have an obligation to participate in efforts to safeguard our only home – the planet earth. We hope that initiatives such as these can make a meaningful contribution to the natural environment of Bali. We remain active participants in creating a ‘Green Living’ culture – a beautiful and sustainable society that can be enjoyed for generations to come," he said.
“Earth Day” is recognized at the Bali Safari & Marine Park and around the globe every April 22nd as a day to recommit our support to protect and preserve the environment. “Earth Day” was first celenrated in 1970 and is today managed on a global basis by the Earth Day Network that coordinates activites in more than 192 countries.
