Beritabali.com.Karangasem. 'Siat Api' or Fire war ritual is an ancient tradition that continues to grow in the village pakraman Duda, Selat, Karangasem district. These ritual is held as an attempt to neutralize the negative forces that exist in the village environment. With the hope that the village community avoid the things that are not desirable. In addition, fire flame is also interpreted as a test to control the emotions contained in the human psyche.

Siat api is usually held before the Usaba Dodol ceremony on 'Sasih Kesange'or the ninth month of Bali, coinciding with the dead moon (Waraspati Tilem) on 'Sasih Kaulu' or the eighth month of Bali. The tradition of fire fighting is carried out at the border of Duda Timur Village with Duda Village, precisely on the Tukad Sang-sang Bridge. The atmosphere becomes sacred because tradition takes place during 'Sandikala' or transition time from day to night.

"So hopefully, before the Usaba Dodol ceremony, we are clean in sekala and niskala," said Sujana during the procession on Friday (15/2/2018), yesterday.
